1984 Bally / Midway Eight Ball Deluxe SS

Final

This Eight Ball Deluxe is now a good looking and fast playing machine. Here's a rundown of the new parts / improvements. Everything else got fixed and/or rebuilt and polished along the way:

  • Outside Edge hardtop

  • Comet LEDs

  • New Drop Targets

  • All OEM PCBs repaired, re-capped and bullet-proofed

  • Repro PCBs added: Alltek Lamp Module and Aux Lamp Module, Gulfstream Rectifier

  • Cabinet repaired and repainted with Pinball Pimp cabinet stencils

  • New ground braiding run throughout the cabinet, plus new power cord

  • New legs, leg levelers, bolts, screws,

  • Reproduction cabinet tech labels and apron decals

  • New flipper buttons

  • Coin door disassembled, cleaned/polished, and rebuilt with new pricing plates and decals.

  • New pop bumper bodies and skirts

  • New speaker

  • New rubbers

All in all, I’ve got about 80 hours of labor in this pin. 6 years later I still have this pin and play it almost daily, and while it’s certainly way, way better than before I’m actually thinking of doing a refresh on it if/when I got find the original 1984 cabinet artwork in decal or stencil form. At that time, I would also make the following improvements:

  • Restore the playfield apron and shooter gauge with original Bally/Midway graphics

  • Totally remove and clean the playfield wire harness

  • Commission Ibis for oak playfield rails dyed glossy black

  • Playfield swap to CPR or, perhaps, reuse the original playfield with hardtop but strip EVERYTHING from the underside and repaint/reseal the underside. And replace all of the lamp sockets with new.
